Buying Crypto in Canada

There are many places to buy crypto from in Canada but these are the best (cheapest) places to buy from directly in my opinion as I've spent countless hours researching this topic ever since I got into crypto in early 2017. The websites listed below are different from crypto exchanges (which are really meant to be used for actively trading on, with NDAX being an exception).

As each of these platforms below have their own set of pros and cons, you'll need to do a bit of research to see which one's the best for you based on your situation. I've also included tutorial videos that show you how you can buy from each platform that should help you out.

If you're unsure of which platform's the best for you, you can always just sign up with them all and see which one you like best. Sometimes you just need to play around with it yourself to see what you like or don't like; some might like certain features that one platform offers while others may not. Personally, I would just go with either NDAX (first) or Newton if they offer the coin(s) that you're looking to buy as they've got the best prices; why pay more for the same thing? This video explains why they're both good options.

Buying Guide

If none of the Canadian crypto platforms listed above have the coin(s) that you're looking for, watch either video below based on your province.

Bitget (NON Alberta)*

Crypto.com Exchange (All of Canada)

To fund either Bitget or Crypto.com Exchange, you'll need USDC.

*Bitget restricts users from Alberta. I have seen people bypass this restriction by registering with their passport and using a VPN. Do this at your own risk.

Thoughts on Other Crypto Platforms/Exchanges for Canadians

Coinsmart: They are now a part of Bitbuy which is expensive. Check out the video on Bitbuy above.

Coinsquare’s Quick Trade: Their trade fees are 0.5%. This is on top of higher prices than their competitors.

Netcoins: Their trade fees are 0.5%. This is on top of higher coin prices that they charge compared to their competitors.
